I’m a little late doing this, but with the Daytona 500 Sunday afternoon I was busy enjoying the start of the racing season!  Jeff Gordon didn’t win, and if it wasn’t for a part failure (suspension part bent) he would’ve been right up there and just might have won his 4th Daytona 500.  They showed his daughter, Ella, on TV during the pre-race show and oh my is she cute, he is going to have to chain her up until she is 30!!  Junior did pretty good, but without teammates around him and the Toyotas and Dodges ganging up on the Chevies he didn’t quite get up at the front like I thought he would.  Oh well, the rest of the season looks like it is gonna be great!

By the way – I finally figured out what I had set wrong that probably wasn’t allowing comments unless you are registered.  I’m still a newbie to WordPress so I’m figuring stuff out as I go along, and I need to read my WordPress for Dummies book a little more thoroughly.  :-/  Please comment if you are inclined and wouldn’t mind sharing your thoughts and opinions with me.

On to what we did this last Sunday…  First off, we purposely planned to do one less song/hymn than normal because we had an all-church meeting after the service and wanted to allow time for it without delaying people’s lunches (and my Daytona 500 watching) too much.   As it turned out, we started the service a little late and things weren’t going quite fast enough that we had to cut out the last hymn, too.  I was really bummed about that, in some ways, because I really was feeling great about how I was going to do it.

Prelude – For The Beauty of the Earth – arranged by Chris Rice (thankfully this was constructed with sections that could be repeated easily because I started at 3 minutes before the service is supposed to start, and Curt and the accolyte didn’t process in on time so I had to repeat several sections)

Opening music set:
He Is Exalted by Twila Paris
Fairest Lord Jesus – done like on the Passion: Hymns Ancient & Modern CD without the chorus

Offertory:
Hungry (Falling On My Knees) by Kathryn Scott

Scripture: Hebrews 11:4-7

Message: Life-Giving Faith: Abel, Enoch & Noah

Closing song: My Hope Is Built (The Solid Rock) – we didn’t end up singing this one, but I’ll probably do it in a couple of weeks because it fits with the Faith series we are doing
