We are just beginning to transition to a more contemporary worship style, so we don’t have a “set” of music at any point in the service, but I thought I’d put here all the songs we did for the service and how I led them for anyone else who might be trying to transition as well. This will also show our growth and progression towards contemporary music.
I actually preached this week, also, on unity in worship.
Call to Worship: Psalm 100 as a responsive reading
Opening song: All Creature Of Our God and King by St. Francis of Assissi – sung similar to David Crowder Band’s version but with the words from the United Methodist Hymnal.
First Scripture Reading: Psalm 150
Offertory song: White As Snow by Leon Olguin – I just learned this one, and I think it is beautiful and simple for thinking about what Jesus did for us.
Second Scripture reading: Colossians 3:12-17
Song before sermon: Amazing Grace by John Newton – done in a similar style to Chris Tomlin’s version, but without the chorus he wrote and with all the verses in the United Methodist Hymnal.
Sermon: Our Lives as Worship Together
Song after sermon: Come Christians Join To Sing – pretty much straight up.
