Today went pretty good, though I’m still recovering from being sick last week and I had (still have, actually) a nifty headache this morning - not sure if it is a sinus headache or a tension headache, but it goes from my right forehead/eye all the way back to the right side of my neck. We got Sebastian’s guitar to work a little bit better, but we discovered after the service that the sound guy didn’t realize which channel he was plugged into and so didn’t really have him turned up. It is amazing to me (though I guess it shouldn’t be) that the acoustic piano is overpowering so much the guitar that is plugged into the sound system. Imagine if we mic’d the piano? Guess we won’t ever be doing that!
Opening music “set”:
Praise To The Lord The Almighty - Christy & Nathan Nockels’ version from Passion: Hymns Ancient and Modern CD.
Blessed Assurance - I wanted to try to do it like Third Day’s version, but I didn’t quite get there. A little hard to do without an electric guitar and drums, anyway, but I also felt like I wound up doing it slower than I intended.
Shout To the Lord - I was severely bummed when I discovered Saturday evening that the pew edition of The Faith We Sing doesn’t have the verse to this song, just the chorus. I’m glad I did find out before we sang it, though, because it would’ve been a disaster if I forged ahead assuming they had the verse when they didn’t. Thank you, Lord, for prompting me to look!
Offertory: Here I Am To Worship by Tim Hughes
Message: Does Faith Have a Face?
Concluding hymn: I Know Whom I Have Believed
