First, I’m not linking the songs to anywhere on the ‘net, yet, until I decide where I should link to since I’m mostly doing hymns but not necessarily in the traditional way.
Pastor Curt and I changed the order of worship for this morning a little to have more of a “worship set” feel, and to have it flow one thing into another. In all, I think it worked fairly well except for my having to move my microphone from one place to another, the pop of plugging in my guitar because I should’ve plugged it in before the service started, and I wasn’t really ready yet when Lynn finished announcing the song. Hopefully in the future we will have multiple microphones working, and get the sound guys to show up earlier than 5 minutes before the service starts so that I just go from one place to the other smoothly and easily.
Prelude: I Stand In Awe arr. by Mark Hayes
Opening song: Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise - like Bob Kauflin’s version, except without the chorus he wrote.
Call To Worship - responsive reading, I played quietly while they did this but the hard part was that I could barely make out what the liturgist was saying to know when she announced the next song! I hope we can get a monitor for me soon.
Song of Praise: O For A Thousand Tongues To Sing - like David Crowder Band’s new version, but not their chorus.
Scripture Reading: Psalm 34:1-5, 8
More Singing: Glorify Thy Name - this is where I decided to switch to guitar and didn’t quite flow into it like I wanted.
Prayers
Young Disciples Time
Offertory: Breathe by Marie Barnett - I feel like I did this one really well, and was able to flow right into the doxology (although it was quite an accident that they were in the same key!) The link goes to the story behind the song, which tells about the amazing ways God comes to us when we least expect Him.
Scripture Reading: Eph. 3:14-21
Message: Praying With the Senses: The Fullness of God - Pastor Curt did fantastic with this message, and I love how he had the kids make prayer beads previously so they could pass them out this Sunday and then had us pray with them at the end of his message. I’m not sure if the older people really got it, but he definitely explained how meeting with God is more than words spoken, but also in what we see, taste, smell, and hear.
